Last Friday I mentioned trying to focus on letting go of my thoughts and plans to receive guidance from the Void. It’s one thing to say I’ll endure the consequence of abandoning my plans, but something entirely different when it’s nearly 9pm Thursday night and our Hidden Egg podcast is still sitting relatively untouched. I spent much of the night waiting for the Void to direct me to cutting it into public and Patreon versions so I can move on with my life.
Guh! So frustrating!
Each time that frustration hits, though, the Void has an answer. And so, I follow—because when it’s all said and done, most of my plans can wait a day. Sorry if you’re waiting on my content to release, but from the stats, it seems most Hidden Egg listeners didn’t like the Season Two changes anyway. So, probably no rush on it.
Neuroscience: The Next Frontier
The brain is where it’s all happening these days, isn’t it? Information is everywhere, popping out of the woodwork at seemingly random moments. Whether or not they’re actually random I’ll leave to the realm of beliefs, but one in particular caught my eye as I was thinking about the difficulties I have staying “on task:”
It’s less than ten minutes long, but generally says to stop focusing on rewards and instead focus on the journey. Not necessarily a new concept, right?
Except he brought new info to the playing field. I had no idea that a reward stopped children from drawing on their own time! That makes so much sense now that I hear about it, and my life now looks like a tapestry colored with similar accidental experiments. Putting in the effort takes more and more energy than before, and is a big part of the downward spiral I’ve been combatting for years now.
But… before what? And what is the solution exactly? Well, I think I can answer those questions now.
